Before you visit

• Call ahead. Hours and item categories can change. A quick call avoids a wasted trip.
• Bring valid ID. Pawn shops in every US state are required by law to verify your identity.
• Know your minimum. Decide the lowest price you'll accept before walking in. Don't anchor to the first offer.
• Bring documentation. Receipts, certificates of authenticity, and original packaging materially increase offers, especially on watches, jewelry, and electronics.
• Read the ticket. If you're pawning (not selling), the ticket should show the loan amount, interest rate, fees, and exact redemption deadline.
