The short story
PawnGuru is a free, independent directory of 5,696 pawn shops and buy/sell stores across 51 U.S. states and Washington, D.C., covering 1,921 cities. Every listing has a real street address, a phone number, and, where available, a specialty profile and rating compiled from public sources.
There's no login. No data collection beyond basic analytics. No pay-to-play rankings. If you came here to find a pawn shop, we want you to leave with a genuinely useful answer — whether that's an address, a phone number, or the realization that you have better options than pawning for your particular situation.
A note from the founder
PawnGuru is written and maintained by one person. I've spent years thinking about how the pawn industry actually works — where it helps people, where it fails them, and how to give borrowers and sellers better information before they walk into a shop.
The directory runs lean on purpose. No ads, no pop-ups, no sponsored placements. If you find a shop through PawnGuru that helps you, that's the whole point. If you find a shop that treats you badly, tell me — I'll remove or flag it. The directory gets better every time someone takes a minute to send feedback.
How we build the directory
PawnGuru listings are in one of two states:
- Verified listings have been cross-checked against at least two public sources: the street address matches the business, the phone number connects, and the shop appears to be in active operation. These listings include specialty profiles and, where available, ratings from public review platforms.
- Pending verification listings are published with just the basics — name, address, and phone — and clearly marked with a banner at the top of the page. These are working through the verification queue. Until a listing is verified, we ask readers to call ahead before visiting.
Listings are sourced from public data: official business websites, state regulator directories, Better Business Bureau, Google Business Profile, Yelp, and the National Pawnbrokers Association. Everything is kept current through periodic re-verification and community corrections. If a listing is out of date, please let us know.
What PawnGuru is and isn't
- We are an editorial directory with opinions — guides on how pawning works, how to get a fair price, when to pawn vs. sell, and how to protect yourself.
- We are not affiliated with any pawn shop, chain, lender, or trade association.
- We are not a lender. We do not originate loans, hold items, or facilitate transactions.
- We are not a licensed appraiser. Any valuation or price estimate on the site is educational only — not an offer.
How PawnGuru stays free
PawnGuru is reader-supported. Some links on the site go to affiliate partners — companies like personal loan marketplaces, mail-in gold buyers, and luxury watch buyers. When a reader clicks one of those links and completes an action on the partner's site, we may earn a commission. The reader never pays more because of this.
We've set ourselves strict rules about which partners we work with and how they appear on the site. Read the full rules on our Affiliate Disclosure page.
